Vail Women Elect aims to empower women as donors, raisers and activists so they have a strong voice both individually and collectively in the political process.
Our Purpose
We seek to increase participation in the political process by building communities of women who come together to support candidates for President, Senate and Governor:
Our preference is for women Democrats
We need approval by at least 70% of the Steering Committee for a candidate to receive an invitation to Vail and financial support from the group.
We support other Colorado candidates for state and U.S. offices
Men and non-Democrats are eligible if they receive votes from 70% of the Steering Committee
Our goal is to support candidates who support reproductive rights
HOW WE SELECT CANDIDATES
We assess the candidate's opponent, their general positions and voting record and the likelihood of the potential candidate successfully competing and winning the election.
We evaluate a range of issues including:
Women's Rights
Reproductive Rights
LGBTQ Rights
Education
Health
Environment
Gun Safety
Voting Rights
Foreign Policy
Vail Women Elect is affiliated with Electing Women Alliance, a national network of local giving groups that aims to empower women as donors, raisers and activists so they have a strong voice both individually and collectively in the political process.
The model is based on Electing Women PAC, a Denver-based network of women founded in 2000 to support women candidates for U.S. Senate and Governor. Beginning in 2014, Electing Women, in partnership with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s Off the Sidelines PAC, worked together to expand giving circles in cities around the country.
